I’m Joshua. I build the systems that handle money, and the products people use them through.
Six years so far, the last two building from zero as a founding engineer. At Riddo I built the systems behind a crypto and gift card exchange, from what happens when someone sells to how the money reaches their bank. At Fanpool I built the whole product myself, from nothing to 2,000 users.
Most of the work is invisible. The job is to make money move the way it should, and to make sure that when something fails, nothing is lost.
Things I built
Chain gateway
I built the gateway that sits between Riddo and the blockchains. It hands out deposit addresses and tells Riddo when money arrives, so Riddo never holds a key or talks to the chain provider. Deposits from Tron, Ethereum and Bitcoin go through it.
Fiat pipeline
When someone sells crypto or a gift card, the money has to leave our systems and land in their bank account. I built that path and the checks around it, so a payout still ends with the right amount in the right account, even when the bank is slow or a message arrives twice.
On-device authentication
Trades are confirmed with a PIN that never leaves the phone. The key pair lives in the Secure Enclave, the server only holds the public half, and recovery is gated on checks the user can pass. Admin actions sit behind roles, two-factor and an audit log.
Monitoring and incident response
Payments break quietly, so I made sure we heard about it first. Errors reach Sentry with personal data scrubbed, every event writes one structured log line with a request id, health checks cover the app and the database, and a console shows stuck jobs and key service logs.
Prize payout engine
Each competition holds its entry fees in its own wallet, and winners are paid when the game week settles. I built the payout jobs, the Circle wallet handling and the separate ledger for the platform token, so a retried job does not pay a winner twice.
Wallet and withdrawals
Users fund a wallet with a bank transfer or USDC and withdraw back out. I built the wallet screens, the Circle and Scalex calls behind them, and the withdrawal flow with its PIN step and its pending state, so the balance on screen stays honest while a transfer is in flight.
Live scoring
Every game week, thousands of teams change score at once. I built the worker that pulls the live FPL data, recalculates every entry and updates the leaderboards in batches, so a busy matchday does not lock the database or leave the table stale.
FPL sync
Users connect their real FPL account and their team appears in Fanpool. A daily job keeps it current. Around 30% fewer people left after that.

How I build
Assume it will break
Payments fail and networks drop, and the same message can arrive twice. I build for that from the start.
Every fix gets a test that proves it
If I cannot make the test fail without the fix, the test does not prove anything. That rule applies to every change that touches money.
Plan it in plain English first
A short write-up of the options and why we picked one, before any code, so the next person can see the reasoning instead of guessing it.

Clearerpay
Frontend Engineer · 2024Held the checkout flow together through heavy team turnover. I owned what a user sees when a payment fails, and how they get back on track.
Mainstack
Frontend Engineer · 2023Built the Automation module, where a user sets something to happen and the system runs it in the background without running it twice. I also wrote the shared form handling that removed a whole class of repeated bugs across the product.
Independent clients
Full-stack Engineer · 2020 to presentContent-managed marketing sites for Greenfirst in Nigeria, UX and template work for DesignKroo in the UK, and an SEO-first Next.js build for ThelockedinMindset.

I have worked with Joshua on a couple of projects and each time, I am fascinated by his eye for detail, love for stunning user interfaces and experiences, clean code and functional implementation. In one of the projects we worked on together, Joshua literally did the entire flow on Figjam and all I needed to do was understand it and create the design flow. He is the first and so far the only Software Developer I know with a great grasp of good UX and acute coding skills. Always recommended.
